New information from the HSE highlights the importance of ventilation since Coronavirus can spread through the air; adequate ventilation reduces the amount of virus in the air and helps reduce the risk from aerosol transmission (breathing in small particles).
It advises checking the risk of poor ventilation:
Risk assessment helps you identify workspaces with poor ventilation.
Look for rooms with windows and doors that can’t be opened.
Think about spaces that become overcrowded, feel stuffy or smell bad.
Consider using a CO2 monitor to identify poor ventilation.
While consideration should be given to improving natural air ventilation, advice is also given on the use of mechanical systems.
